Jul 07

Making a Halter Dress Halter dresses are most popular during summer. Whether short or long, it is possible for you to make them yourself. Making this dress is very simple and all you have to do incorporate your own likes in terms of design. You need to learn only the basics of dressmaking.

First you need to have the preferred fabric with a matching thread, sewing equipment, ΒΌ inch elastic, a large safety pin, large paper and marker, iron and ironing board. The first step is to take measurements of your bust, waist, hip and dress length to draft your dress pattern. Make sure that the dress style does not entirely rely on straps to hold by making it fit.

Next, take the biggest measurements divide them into half and add six inches or more. Draw a rectangle the width of your first measurement and the second measurement then cut the rectangle. Lay the cut out on your fabric and pin it in place, then cut your fabric. Stitch the back together at the side lengths and iron the seam allowances flat and trip them. Turn the edges and flat iron them then stitch all the way around close to the edge. Wrap your elastic around the top of your bust.

Now, create tubes of fabric an inch wider than and as long as your arm and double stitch them at the middle of the top of the dress. Clip the elastic to the safety pin and insert it at a 3 inch hole at the top of the dress. Push it all round to the other end and remove the safety pin. Stitch the ends of the elastic together and stitch the remaining inches to finish the dress.

Therefore, go ahead and make your fabulous halter dress for your occasion!
